The African Child Foundation America (ACFAmerica) is a Faith-Based as well as Community-Based Organization in Kenya, AFRICA. It is a youth-serving humanitarian initiative morally committed and dedicated to assisting socially and physically disadvantaged children. It is a non-profit 501(c)(3), non-sectarian child development organization, which was founded in 2003 by Fr. Henry Simaro under the auspices then as the: National Director of the Social Communications Commission of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Kenya.

The following is an update on the African Child Foundation America - June 15, 2006

ACFAmerica was established initially by Fr. Henry Simaro in Kenya in response to the impact of poverty, famine and HIV/AIDS on the women and children of Africa. Fr. Henry is trying to feed and educate over 1,000 orphans and abused women.

Fr. Henry visited OLQA in August 2005 with only $20.00 in his pocket. He spoke to OLQA parish and received an outpouring of generosity. He took the collections and made great strides. In the last 10 months, he built two wells, purchased a van to act as a medical mobile clinic, purchased five acres and built a kindergarten. He is now supporting 300 children ages 3 to 8.

Our most recent event was the First Annual Mission Festival featuring Fr. Henry, African Food, Solar Cooker demonstrations, and recent pictures from Kenya. Over 200 people attended along with Saddleback Church missionaries who helped celebrate the event and shared their experiences. It was a great turnout and showing of support for ACFAmerica mission.

Our goal is to develop a grass roots organization to personally put discipleship into the the hearts and minds of all members of the Christian faith. Our vision is to build a strong mission legacy to support many needs including the building of multiple schools, medical clinics, churches along with sending mission teams to Kenya on an annual basis. In the future, Mission will be mean what can I do with my time and talents to make a difference today. We are looking for groups to adopt us as service projects.

MANDATE

To mobilize resources, promote publicity, provide and coordinate training, education, health, scholarships, emergencies, relief, rescue and shelter services, engage children, advocate for them and build their capacities to constructively participate in exercising their responsibilities and rights, at the same time empowering families, communities and institutions to be pro-active and utilize the available local resources and opportunities for long-term benefits and safe growth for children.
